“Cyclogenesis” at Galerie Roberto

Opening on June 8 at Galerie Roberto is “Cyclogenesis,” a group exhibition that explores the subject of the weather in its violent manifestation as a hurricane or a tropical super-storm, familiar to our country. Cyclogenesis is “the development or strengthening of an area of low pressure in the atmosphere, resulting in the formation of a cyclone.”

Featured are the works of Buen Abrigo, Melbourne Aquino, Gary Custodio, Renante Dublois, Fitz Herrera, Jeline Laporga, Marlon Magbanua, Pettz Muring, Josep Pascual, Michael Pastorizo, Sam Penaso, Jay Ragma, James Salarda, Beatrix Syjuco, Valen Valero, and Ritche Yee.

The works can also be read as metaphors for human emotion, subjected to extreme states of agitation, devastation, alienation, loneliness, and inner turmoil. A natural survivor in the midst of physical calamities and a pillar of emotional strength in moments of traumatic crises, the Filipino, with his redeeming instinct for the positive – “Makakaraos din!” (This too shall pass away) – is ever on the look-out for the silver lining and the radiant rainbow in the sky.

“Cyclogenesis” runs until June 27.

Galerie Roberto is at Unit 4, Molito Lifestyle Extension, Bldg. 7, Madrigal Ave. cor. Commerce Ave., Alabang, Muntinlupa City. For inquiries, call tel no: 809-1630. Mobile: 0998-595-5764.
